Funky Fresh Finds Vol. 1: Holiday Stocking Stuffers
Christmas is 12 weeks away. That’s approximately 87 sleeps! This year, I’ve decided that I’m going to the annoying mom/auntie/sister-from-another-mister you never wanted, because I’m officially going to start bugging you to start your gift shopping MEOW. Don’t wait till the last minute, babe. It’s so much less stressful for you (and me) this way! Anyway, I’ve been doing some initial canvassing for stocking stuffers lately, and here’s a couple of cool things I’ve found… Tattly Temporary Tattoos I happened upon these temporary tattoos (made by real artists!) from Tattly a few weeks ago, and even though I’m not a...
Do You Now (or Have You Ever) Work in a Place Where Folks Wear Lots of Makeup?
Not per se, and right now I’m still thoroughly entrenched in that stretchy pants life, but I wish I had spent some time working someplace where people dressed to the nines and went all out with their hair and makeup. Even when I worked in the city at PG&E, most of my coworkers did the bare minimum, but part of that is California style. Workplaces here are usually super casual, like business casual+casual. I like looking “put together” and getting dressed up, though, as you can quite clearly tell by my propensity for black stretchy pants, haha… 🙂 This question...
Down the YouTube Rabbit Hole: Braids!
You can always count me in for 1) a Keanu Reeves movie and 2) an iced latte, but a fun bun? These days, they’re hit or miss for me. Sometimes, you can’t beat a quick and messy bun for convenience, but there are also days when haphazardly shoving my hair up just won’t do. I’m the type of gal who absolutely NEEDS to get out of her pajamas first thing in the morning; otherwise, I feel absolutely useless, and lately it’s been the same way for my hair. I need to style my hair in order to feel productive, which...
Have You Ever Had an At-Home Hair Dye Mishap?
At the time, I probably wouldn’t have described any of my attempts at dyeing my hair at home as “mishaps,” but looking back…every single time I dyed my hair in college could have, in fact, been characterized as a massive mishap. LOL! Nothing ever looked quite right when I did it myself. Not then, not now. DIY at-home hair dyeing is just not my forte (which is one of the reasons I’m growing out my gray). I think the worst incident was the time I did my own highlights and wound up with chunky, streaky orange tiger stripes. 🐯 Of...
Kérastase Reflection Shampoo, Conditioner and Hair Mask for Color-Treated Hair
Unless you’re currently living that Maybach/Balmain/Cartier life, one can’t exactly call Kérastase “budget,” since their shampoos and conditioners are in the mid-$30 range, but if you like their products, or you’ve wanted to try their products, FYI, price cut! In most cases, they’ve dropped their prices between $2 and $8, which isn’t bad. It makes them a little more accessible. I’ve been testing a few things I haven’t used before from their Reflection line for color-treated hair — Bain Chromatique Sulfate-Free Shampoo ($30), Fondant Chromatique Conditioner ($34) and Masque Chromatique ($53). No idea how they compare to their previous pricier...
